Reviews Plugin: Subscription and Installation Guide
The Froonze Reviews plugin helps Shopify merchants build trust and drive more sales by collecting and showcasing customer reviews. Merchants can collect, moderate, and display product and store reviews (including photos and videos) across their store using fully customizable widgets.
This article covers how to subscribe to the Reviews plugin, install its review widgets, and troubleshoot common setup issues.

Subscribing to the Reviews plugin
The Reviews plugin is billed separately from other Froonze modules. You can manage your subscription from the Subscription page inside the app.
Accessing the app subscription page
Our app dashboard has a dedicated page where merchants can subscribe, unsubscribe, and update their plan.
- Sign in to your Shopify admin and access the Apps section.
- Search for our app and go to the Subscription page.

- This page lists all of our available plugins, their pricing plans, and the option to enable each individually.
Choosing a Reviews plugin plan
Our Reviews plugin plans are based on monthly orders only. Every plan includes the full feature set: photo and video reviews, automated review requests and reminders, verified buyer badges, all widgets, moderation controls, and full translation support.
- Scroll to the Reviews section and toggle on the Activate option next to it.
- Review the available plans:
- Basic: $5 USD/month. Up to 100 orders/month.
- Advanced: $10 USD/month. Up to 500 orders/month.
- Premium: $15 USD/month. Up to 1000 orders/month.
- Unlimited: $50 USD/month. Unlimited orders.

- Select the plan that best fits your store's needs by clicking the appropriate option.
- Once selected, click the Update button and then Ok in the disclaimer pop-up. This will redirect you to the approval page.
Approving the Reviews plugin app charges
You will need to perform several steps to ensure that you've successfully subscribed to the Reviews plugin.
- Review the following details:
- Plan name: e.g., Reviews (Unlimited).
- Subscription details: monthly cost (e.g., $50 USD every 30 days).
- Free trial: we offer a 14-day free trial.

- Payment method: choose an existing card, add a new card, or use PayPal.
- Verify that everything matches your chosen plan.
- Click the Approve button on the right-hand panel to confirm.
Once approved, the Reviews plugin is officially active and ready to install in your store.
Installing the Reviews plugin
Once your subscription is active, the next step is to install the review widgets so they appear in your store. Without this step, reviews won't be visible or collectible on your storefront.
Installing a widget
- Open the app's Reviews ➜ Installation tab.
- Choose the widget you want from the table below, select your theme, and click Install.
- Save the changes in the theme editor.
Widget | Typical placement |
|---|---|
Review widget | Product page |
Preview badge | Product page |
Reviews carousel | Anywhere featuring top reviews |
Happy customers | Homepage / testimonials page |
Review widget
The review widget is where customers browse existing reviews on a product page and submit new ones. It's the core building block of the plugin.
Preview badge
The preview badge shows an at-a-glance star rating and review count. Useful on collection pages or anywhere you want a compact trust signal next to a product.
Reviews carousel
The reviews carousel showcases your best reviews. Mark individual reviews as Featured from the Reviews tab in the app to control what appears here.
Happy customers widget
The Happy customers widget acts as a store-wide reviews hub. It displays a summary of all published reviews (both product and store reviews) with an overall rating breakdown, and lets customers browse either category or submit a new store review directly. A good fit for a homepage or a dedicated testimonials page.
Troubleshooting issues with the Reviews plugin
A review was submitted successfully, but it isn't showing up on the storefront. What's wrong?
This is usually one of two causes:
- Moderation is set to manual approval. Check Reviews ➜ Settings ➜ Moderation. If "Manually approve reviews" is selected, new reviews stay hidden until approved in the Reviews tab.
- The review widget's automatic installation didn't complete. Confirm the app embed is enabled:
- Access the theme editor of the theme where the widget should appear.
- Open the App embeds panel from the left sidebar.
- Toggle on the Reviews option.
- Click Save in the top-right corner of the theme editor.
Customers aren't receiving review request emails. How can I check this?
- The dashboard can be accessed from our app's Reviews ➜ Requests tab, which shows the status of each request (sent, skipped, or scheduled) along with a reason.
- Common skip reasons include the order being refunded or the customer not being subscribed to marketing emails.
- Check Reviews ➜ Settings ➜ Schedule and reminders to confirm the request delay (days after fulfillment) and request limits are configured as expected.
- If you want requests sent even to customers who opted out of marketing emails, this can be enabled under Reviews ➜ Settings ➜ Campaigns and blocklists. Note that merchants remain responsible for complying with GDPR and other applicable privacy laws when using this option.
An email or product isn't receiving review requests. Could it be blocklisted?
- Check Reviews ➜ Settings ➜ Campaigns and blocklists.
- Review the Email blocklist: this supports wildcard matching (e.g.,
*@hotmail.comorno-reply@*). - Review the Tag blocklist: any customer, product, or order tagged with a blocklisted tag will be skipped.
I imported reviews via CSV, but some didn't import. What could cause this?
This is usually caused by formatting issues, incorrect column mapping, or exceeding the 10 MB upload limit. See Reviews Plugin: Importing Reviews via CSV for full troubleshooting steps.
My Reviews plan option is greyed out, or I see an "exceeded orders" message. What does this mean?
If you can't select a plan, it usually means your store has already exceeded the monthly order limit for that plan. This happens due to various reasons:
- Our plans are based on the number of orders in the past 30 days (pulled directly from Shopify's API).
- If your store imported historical orders (e.g., during migration), these can push your count above the plan's limit.
- Once the order limit is exceeded, that plan is no longer selectable.
Please contact our support, and we'll help resolve the issue.
Does upgrading my plan unlock more features?
No, unlike some of our other plugins, every Reviews plan includes the same full feature set. The only difference between tiers is the number of monthly orders covered. Upgrade only if your store has outgrown the order limit on your current plan.
